Excelsior Springs, Missouri

Welcome to our website.

The Osage Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, supporting veterans’ programs and securing America's future through better education.

Each Daughter of the Osage Chapter is proud of the direct lineage connecting her to a patriot who aided the cause of the American colonies through military, civil, or patriotic service. If you have a patriot in your family tree, we would love to have the opportunity to assist you in establishing the proofs necessary to join this great organization. Please contact us for more information.

Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Colonists

Our History

Osage Chapter was organized on April 29, 1987. The chapter was named in honor of the Osage Native Americans who historically dominated much of present-day Missouri.  From the day of the chapter's inception the members began projects to support veterans, education, military, historical preservation and community programs.  That practice continues today.  Chapter members support the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives contributing hundreds of volunteer hours each year.  The chapter purchases and donates patriotic educational materials to the local schools and library.  The daughters present DAC National Award medals to cadets of outstanding ability and achievement who are enrolled in the NJROTC program at the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center.

The Thelma Dalberg Memorial Prize for the best historical essay is presented each year to a Missouri Daughter. Named for an Osage chapter charter member the contest provides Missouri daughters with a unique opportunity to express themselves through a historical or patriotic-themed written essay. Two current members of the chapter have served as State Regents, Mrs. Estella Morrison (1988-1991) and Mrs. Jo Anna Dale (2009-2012).  Mrs. Dale and Mrs. Morrison are also MSSDAC Distinguished Service Norma I. Leavene Award recipients.

The chapter meets the 4th Saturday in the months of January, April, July and September.  In November we meet the 3rd Saturday.  Meetings begin at 11:00 a.m. and are held at the Excelsior Springs Hospital
